Meet the Author

" A Kindness Remembered developed from the need I felt to have more kindness in the world. As a child growing up in the country, I spent my summer vacation sitting in an old maple tree with pen and paper in hand. I wrote stories, usually with animals and nature as the subject. As an adult, my love of the outdoors has turned me into an avid gardener, bird watcher and camper! When I became a mother, writing children's stories became natural because I wanted to teach my boys the value of compassion and lending a hand to those in need. "

A blackbird breaks a wing while trying to fly to the sun. After being ignored by many, a small boy finally takes pity on him. Once he has healed, the blackbird discovers that the boy’s kindness has changed his feathers forever.

It is a dazzling and powerful message about the power of kindness. I enjoyed the story and its message of hope. I adored how the words flowed. There were parts where the story was told rhythmically through rhymes.

As fantastic as this story is, the one thing that brought me pure delight was the artwork. This artwork is phenomenally beautiful. I believed that the author and illustrator used oil painting for the whole story. Most of the artwork is a mixture of impressionism and surrealism. There is one page that does not match. It is very bright and bold with a lot of patterns. However, each piece of art adds more to the story.

The only thing that I wished is that I can share this book with kids. With how everything is going with distance learning, it is hard to fit everything in the course of a few hours. However, I do believe that children will love the story and the artwork.

In the end, I do recommend this book to everyone. I know that everyone will enjoy the story as well as the artwork. The good news is that the book is currently available, so please go check it out.
